• New CD

    This CD, without accompanying musicians, is dedicated to the great figures of Jazz of the first half of the 20th century.
    It is a recording to listen, have fun and recognize the creations of the great composers and performers of Jazz.
    Along with these masterpieces of music, I have allowed myself to include some of my compositions based on the musical style of the time.

    Orquestra de Jazz de Galicia presented their first album, titled Fame, special programming within the 25th anniversary of the University of Vigo. The audience that filled the Auditorium Mar de Vigo, delighted attended the premiere of this great orchestra.

    Eight compositions Roberto Somoza for extensive training are the source of Voland Orchestra. The music composed includes a trip through several European countries (Bulgaria, Romania, Moldova, Ukraine, Poland, Germany, France and Spain). With the idea of clothing their music with a literary support (following the tradition of program music but with a different identity), Somoza is brought into contact with the writer Quinito Lopez Mourelle to conceive a work which affects the musical career linking Bulgaria, the starting point, with Spain. The resulting novel narrative embedded in its trunk, by way of stories interspersed, the eight stops on a imaginary tour of the Orchestra Voland.
    The intention is that the approach the spirit of these countries, avoiding the topics of travel books to offer, however, an insight and personal taking as a starting point folk roots.

    Standards & Ballads is an album recorded in two separate sessions. 4 songs were recorded in trio and 4 songs recorded a duet. All songs are classics of American music.Steve Brown (guitar), composer of two songs, and Alfonso Morán ( bass ), playing with Roberto on this CD.
    The record has the personal sound of Roberto, but remember the classic sounds of bebop and hardbop.

    YELLOW is a story about a real trip as well as an imaginary one. A trip to New York, Cuba, Paris, Sofia, Rianxo... A story told with music, in which each caracter offers their own version through improvisation. 9 short stories that transport the listener through streets of the world.

    Clunia returns with new CD. To Nani García, Baldo Martínez and Fernando Llorca, founder of the Group in the decade of the 80, Roberto Somoza and Matthew Lee Simon are added to create 5.

    The CD will come out for sale next September (2009) and with its title they celebrate this new formation and the fifth recording of the group.

    THE VANGUARD is a project that pays tribute to the alto saxophone, compositions and arrangements that exploit comtemporáneos full format of the small orchestra of modern jazz.

    A small tribute to the great classical masters of the instrument, now treated from a different point of view. The record shows that it was recorded in November in studies Bruar for Xingra.com record, and was composed, arranged and directed by Roberto Somoza. A section of five winds and pace trio of shape that this record has the collaboration of the pianist and composer, record producer Nani García Javier Ferreiro. The new CD is now available in stores and Web Xingra.com since May 5, 2009.
