Roberto Somoza (Rianxo / A Coruña) is a saxophonist, composer, arranger and conductor.
Founder and director with Pedro Lamas of the Galicia Jazz Orchestra.
Professor (jazz specialty) at the Conservatory of Music of A Coruña. Director and arranger of the Garufa Blue Devils Big Band.
He has participated in recordings or collaborated with Clunia Jazz, Atlantic Bridge group, Steve Brown, Kenny Wheeler, Bennie Green, Bob Mover, Old Dixie Band, Imaxina Jazz Orchestra (arranger and codirector), André Sarbib, Matthew Lee Simon, Quinito L. Mourelle, Borja Quiza (arranger and performer) Galicia Symphony Orchestra, Galega Chamber Orchestra, Coruña Music Band, Santiago Music Band and a very large cast of artists.
He has performed in different venues throughout Europe such as the San Sebastian Jazz Festival, Tondela Festival, Cambridge Festival, Imaxina Sons, Filets Bleus (France), Tonder Festival (Norway), Iberojazz, Strasburg Music Festival, International festival of the Azores Islands, Glasgow festival, Lugo Jazz Festival, Matosinhos Jazz Festival, Mariñas Jazz Festival, etc.
